ELISA DI FALCO, M.S., O.T, LMT

Elisa was inspired by her fathers love of science.  She obtained a B.A. degree in Behavior Science from Lynn University in Boca Raton, and an M.S. degree in Occupational Therapy from Barry University, in addition to her Massage Therapy licensure. Elisa became a certified Manual Lymph Drainage Specialist for the pioneer of lymphedema treatment, Surgeon Robert Lerner, M.D..  She also obtained certification as a garment and othotic fitter.  Elisa worked as the Clinic Director of Florida's Lymphedema Treatment Services Clinic which was founded by Dr. Lerner.  The LTS served as a clinic model for others who attended and obtained MLD certifications.

Elisa was LANA Certified, and her educational outreach has been felt through peer reviewed research, published articles, support groups, national CEU courses, in addition to radio, television and convention appearances over the last 15 years.  She has also been a guest lecturer at leading universities and a sought after public speaker for cancer organizations, and many other groups.

Elisa is the founder of the MLD Institute International which provides advanced training and certification in manual lymphatic drainage.  She serves on the scientific advisory board of Healthcare corporations, colleges and spas.  She is a consultant to major insurance companies and surgeons specializing on the topic of Manual Lymphatic Drainage.  Elisa shares her  extensive knowledge of the lymphatic system in a way that is easily understood and retained.  Her courses provide ample hands on training to ensure that students retain both the scientific aspects and the proper techniques necessary in providing beneficial manual lymphatic drainage , MLD sessions.  Elisa  is the mother of two and in her spare time enjoys playing the piano, martial arts and continues her doctoral studies. JOHN ROMANO, LMT, MPP, CII

​

John majored in Fine Arts and Biology in college.  His life path has continued to blend his love of science with art. As his interest evolved he developed talents in horticulture.  Out of his own health needs he began working with herbs and aromatherapy. To address respiratory issues that arose out of living in the cold northern winters John formulated an aromatherapy blend he named "Easy Breathe".  Word of mouth traveled about the amazing benefits, and soon the demand for the healing blend product did as well.  As John delved deeper into the healing and artistic aspect of the plants essences, his love of science came into play in further formulating blends for issues his massage therapy clients encountered.  He has since progressed to create an entire line of aromatherapy products through his company Other Worlds.

John is certified in MPS Pain Management/Neuromechanical Acupuncture and has blended this modality with special essential oil blends he created to further enhance the techniques benefits.  John has been recognized by the International Sports Professionals Association for outstanding work with professional athletes. John was selected as a Massage Therapist for the 2012 Olympics in London.   He is also well known for his extensive knowledge and work with orchids.  He has had the honor of having several newly discovered orchid species named after him.  John served as Chapter President of the Broward Chapter of the FSMTA, and as FSMTA's Second Vice President.  John has many years experience in teaching both Anatomy and Physiology  and Clinical Massage at Florida College of Natural Health in Pompano Beach, Florida.

 

John has a love of music and has played lead guitar with several bands through the years. LEIAH CARR, LMT, CHMLD, ATBP, CII

Leiah Carr is an international educator and licensed massage therapist with over 20 years’ experience in complementary medicine.  Leiah has been a holistic and energy practitioner since the early 90’s. She became a nationally board certified and Florida licensed massage therapist in 1999.  She is a speaker, researcher, educator and advocate for the Massage Therapy Profession. 

​

Leiah is the Immediate Past President of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association, having served two terms as FSMTA’s President and CEO. Prior to serving as President, she served multiple terms as the President of the FSMTA First Coast Chapter. Leiah has a broad background in Integrative Medicine with a major focus on Eastern Therapies, Sound Healing, the Lymphatic system and Energy Medicine. She is currently the President of the International Sound Healing Institute. She has studied and works directly with Dr. Telse Hunter Merry, PhD., known as the “Grandmother of Shiatsu and Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage”, and the person responsible for bringing both Shiatsu and Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage to North America. Leiah teaches and shares her knowledge about these modalities with other Practitioners to empower them to successfully integrate those therapies into their practice.

 

In addition to her teaching and leadership positions Leiah has maintained a successful massage practice and center in Jacksonville, Florida for 16 years. These blended roles provide her with a unique insight into the needs of massage therapists. Through the years Leiah has received several awards and in 2016 she was honored to be inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.
